Greens on Green

Seeded more greens today.

Mustard, MOSTAZA PARDA Florida Broadleaf - I had seeded some of these in-vitro but they didn't make it.  Put some seed starter mixed with peat and vermiculite into 4" peat pots.  Planted up 3 of these.  One is in the ground, opposite the eggplant in the NE garden; other 2 are in the baby nursery.  These are supposedly very heat tolerant; slow to bolt; will get 2' or more tall.  Broad leafs; can eat as baby greens, or freeze mature leafs for later.  30 days to harvest; should be able to plant more in Jan/Feb.

Mizuna, Brassica rapa - fast growing baby greens for salad.  Start harvesting in 21 days?  Very cold hardy.
Mizuna's taste is peppery like arugula and slightly bitter like frisee, yet it's milder and sweeter than either of the more commonly found salad greens. ....... When mizuna is sauteed, it retains its juiciness and sops up much of the flavoring liquid you may use, such as stock or soy sauce. Try it with a bit of ponzu or lemon, both of which complement the slight bitterness of the leaves. Source
Some seeds scattered in the black pot salad bar; a section planted in starter mix along the back of the driveway garden.  Between the neon green straws.
