Cucumbers!

Five of the seven Burbee pickler cucumber seeds I started on Jan 7 grew up and were all ready to go into toddler beds.  One is out by the garden heater aka electrical box; the rest are in the back garden; 3 in a pot and one up against the fence.  The teepee frame is ready for covers from cold or bugs; whichever comes first.

And ....  the grand experiment.  White - keep the roots cooler in the summer.  Tall - so a certain how high can we hike our leg boy doggie can't hit the plants.  Silvery reflector - sun booster and bug deterrent (I hope).  Pipe stands - for future 1/2" PVC row hoop to hold insect cloth.

Tested with doggies- hmm - needs  to be elevated on blocks - two doggie noses checking out the inside - something for us in here????

These cucumbers are not parthenogenetic so they need bees for fertilization; or to be hand pollinated.  If the experiment seems to work; I'll look more into the Rocky or Adam Gherkin  seeds for later summer or fall.  The idea would be to cover plants and container completely and only open it up to pick pickles to be.
