Brrrr Willies

This is not a nice sight to see in Central Florida

 And the aftermath was worst

Le Sigh .....

Tomato, cucumber, eggplant harvest went much longer than we thought.  We had high hopes for a warmer than average winter.

The back garden fared much better; of course it was all winter crops.

Note to self!  Always, always and always triple check to make sure the sprinkler system is off.  I think that contributed to the damage in the front.

It will be interesting to see how the squash is doing in a few weeks.  Under the mulch is black plastic.  I did see that the plants by the electrical box did much better than other parts of the garden.  In fact, day 1 freeze, the tomato plant was actually happy.  Next day, the sprinkler system did a number.  drr ...

Oh, and I put cloche's - upside down pots and buckets over some of the more tender plants.  That helped a whole lot.

Carried all the seedlings into the garage, and orchids into the shed.  Did not start seedlings that week.

The winter seedling starting area is all set to go in the garage.  Must get pictures and details up soon.

After it was all over, we still had enough green and edible to have a big greens loaded BLT sandwich.  Ymm.
