She hunts live insects to feed her babies, and I'm certain I've seen her with lubber nymphs. She is welcome at our place every spring!
The babies hatched last week. They were all mouth! I think there are four chicks. That is a lot of mouths to feed.
Their eyes are open now, and they are getting bigger. The 'yellow' specs are their beaks, if you look very closely at the enlarged photo (click to enlarge) you can see little squinty eye balls.
Ah, grand-birds! How sweet it is.
